I’m going to start a long-running thread to use across multiple Office Hours, with the hopes that people will leave questions in here for us, and we’ll be able to respond to them during the livestream, and link timestamps back into this thread.
The next Office Hours are scheduled for August 27th!
Event Portal: Self-service Access to Event Data with Governance
Watch live , or see the replay . Leave a comment, ask us a question!
This month, we’ll be looking at some exciting features coming out of the PubSub+ Event Portal. Specifically, automated provisioning of consumers including ACLs, Guaranteed endpoints and subscriptions, and show how event-based governance works. Darryl MacRay, Product Manager for Event Portal at Solace, will join your host Aaron Lee for an hour of updates and demos, showing these capabilities off in real-time.
As usual during the Office Hours, they’ll be taking questions live-on-air, so be sure to bookmark your calendar and tune-in to the livestream on August 27th, or post your questions in advance at https://solace.community/
Just about ready for the next Office Hours! Leave any questions you have here…!
Try Me! Dev tooling for Smart Topics
We have a bunch of enhancements and new tools to help developers and architects learn and play with Solace Smart Topics ! This month, Aaron will be joined by Giri Venkatesan from the Developer Advocate team and Shweta Mazumder from the Product Management team to demo some of these changes, including updates to the Try Me! webapp inside the PubSub+ Manager, topic architecture best practices, and a brand new console tool Solace Try Me (stm). And we might even include a sneak-peek of the new Feeds Generator for helping devs get started quickly with pub/sub Smart Topics!
As usual during the Office Hours, they’ll be taking questions live-on-air, so be sure to bookmark your calendar and tune-in to the livestream on September 25th, or post your questions here!
Less than a week until my next Office Hours! Working on the slide deck now, getting ready. Hope to get some interesting questions, post them here!
All about Solace APIs!
Do you know how many APIs Solace brokers have, or how many they support? Ever wonder which protocol is the right one to get started with? Want a quick a catch-up on all the latest features that have been rolled-out over the last several years? This month, Solace Developer Advocate Aaron Lee is very pleased to be joined by longtime colleague Ragnar Paulson, Senior Manager of the Applications team at Solace HQ to go through all of that. Ragnar has worked on architecture or code in every single (messaging) API Solace has, and we’re lucky to have him share his deep knowledge.
Have a complicated or tricky API question? As usual during the Office Hours, they’ll be taking questions live-on-air, so be sure to bookmark your calendar and tune-in to the livestream on October 29th, or post your questions right here, in this thread…!
Based on Solace’s AMQP 1.0 conformance documentation, the event broker does not support transactional messaging. May I know what is the reason? My company is using AMQP protocol to exchange message with many existing systems and other messages brokers. So I really wish solace can support transactional messaging using AMQP.
Hi @dreamoka , sorry for not following up on this question: I did ask internally back in October and even though we have this feature request on our list, there are no plans to prioritize this in the near future. Apparently it would be a very significant amount of work. Most users and prospects that ask about AMQP transactions are typically using JMS (is this your case?) and as such we woud typically just say to use our native SMF JMS API as that’s fully-featured and fully-supported (both Session transaction and XA transactions). Further, even if your app communicates with other AMQP apps across the mesh, the broker does the conversion between SMF and AMQP. Since it’s been a while since I asked, I’ll ask again to see if there’s any progress.
