Intro

Hi all, if you've joined recently you may have seen a welcome message from me in your inbox but I figured a great way to get to know folks here would be an intro thread. As we share Solace related knowledge and learn from each other, let's get to know each other!

Name or handle

(only share what you're comfortable with of course)

In real life I'm Trish Mermuys and you can find me on twitter @mermuys and LinkedIn if you want to connect with me there.

Location

Where in the world is...
I'm in Ottawa, Canada. Right now I'm working from home but normally I'm at Solace's headquarters here in Ottawa.

Job

I'm currently the Developer Content and Community Manager here at Solace. My job is to help make this community a thriving place where you can find other people who are as passionate, interested, and curious about Solace, PubSub+, Event Portal, and really anything related to event driven architecture.

For fun

Tell us about the fun story about your experience with Solace
For me it's not directly related to Solace software or the broker, but starting a new job in the midst of a pandemic. I had worked remotely before, but it was temporary (six months) and with a team of people that I already knew quite well and had great rapport with. I started with Solace in May when everything was pretty much shut down here in Ottawa. So I didn't get to meet any of my coworkers in person until last week. We just had restaurant outdoor patios open recently so I was able to join @hong and @Tamimi for some drinks and food and finally see them in real life! It was a great moment to get to know them even better, plus the beer tasted really good!

Now it's your turn! Comment below👇 and tell us a bit about yourself!

Apart from Solace, I am also the Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at a non-profit organization called Connected Canadians. We are involved with increasing digital literacy for older adults and teaching them how to use technology better. I am very passionate about our vision and what do to contribute back to the seniors community in Ottawa. You can check out our website to now more, and if you want to watch cute testimony videos of seniors talking about their experiences with technology (phones and computers)! 👵🏻👴

Hi all Abdel from Chicago stumbled on Solace as I was looking to improve out trading alerts platform by using streams instead of queues as we currently do. From first glance it seems that realtime streaming for trading applications may not be a primary focus in this forum but either way I am excited to be here and learn more.

    HI All,
This is Vishal here. I am Mulesoft (Integration) Senior Developer. A year back I got introduced to solace and I loved it.
Solace was perfect fit to enable event driven with Mulesoft Integrations. Kind of options solace provide to connect are amazing i.e, REST, Java, JMS, AMQP, etc. Also the concept of on the fly topic (where we dont need to create topic before using) is quite good.
I would like to learn and contribute to Solace community.

    For fun
For now, I don't have much to say about Solace  I hope it will not be a nightmare to integrate with our other components
Currently stucked at home, I try to advertise with CommitStrip and CodeLife or even Scrum Guide 2020  ... COVID, go back to Hell ! I want to break free and be able to ride my bike along the river again !

    Hi all,

I am Naman Mathur, working as a Junior Integration Developer at Billennium and based out of Pune, India.

I have recently been introduced to EDA and I must say I liked the idea and this product pretty much instantly. Then I was all into it and completed Solace trainings (which were very well explained) and Solutions Consultant certification as well. Looking forward to learning & exploring much more in this space and interact with the community.

Hello All, Glad to join this channel. I am doing some work for a firm which is using solace for messaging and I have a few questions ( and more in the future) . My experience of using solace is quite narrow and traditional and hence looking forward to learn more about the latest offerings.
